From fantasy to the expert
hands of our ancestor!
At the end of the 18th century, Francesco Moriondo, born in Mombaruzzo, supply officer at the royal family, met a young Sicilian lady who was a cook. She was very skilled in making almond-based sweets and he was ready to learn new recipes. A special sweet was born from their special friendship.
Francesco started using apricot seeds, joining them to sugar
and albumen... and so, in 1798
he created the ”Amaretti”
(soft confectionery product)!
Because the inhabitants
of Mombaruzzo called
them like that.
The name is perfect.
These exquisite sweets
are different from the others just for that bitterish taste that they leave in your mouth.
(*) In Italian amaretti sounds likes bitterish in English
